Top Team Builds in Persona 5 The Phantom X

Understanding Team Building in Persona 5 The Phantom X
Persona 5 The Phantom X offers players a vast array of characters to choose from, making team building an essential part of the gameplay experience. The game emphasizes synergy between characters, and assembling a well-balanced team can significantly enhance your performance against enemies. A successful team typically includes a damage dealer, such as an Assassin or Sweeper, who serves as the core of your strategy. Supporting characters should be chosen to cover weaknesses and amplify the strengths of the main damage dealer. For instance, a Sweeper can be paired with a Strategist for attack buffs and a Guardian to draw enemy attention, resulting in a powerful and efficient party.
Fire-Focused Team Build: Panther Fire Damage Team
One of the most effective early-game team builds is the Fire-focused Panther Fire Damage Team. This team leverages the free 5-star character Ann Takamaki/Panther, who is a formidable damage dealer. To complement her abilities, you'll need Kiyoshi Kurotani/Key, Lufel/Cattle, and either Kayo Tomiyama/Okyan or Miyu Sahara/Puppet as an Elucidator.
Key plays a crucial role by stacking Chosen One and using the Highlight effect to boost the entire team's Fire damage. Cattle's first Awareness level applies a burn effect at the start of the fight, allowing Key to use Ring of Fire immediately and apply Sacred Flame more efficiently. This team excels at dealing damage through status effects like Burn and Sacred Flame.
Ann is the primary source of direct damage, using skills like Crimson Rose and Trifire to build up passion stacks and apply burn. When she lands a Fireburn technical with her Highlight ability, she gains a significant damage bonus thanks to her Hidden Ability: Rising Tension. Cattle provides additional damage and burn application while also keeping the team alive with targeted healing.
The choice of Elucidator greatly affects the team's overall strength. Okyan enhances damage against foes with elemental ailments, making her ideal for clearing waves of enemies, while Puppet focuses on applying defensive shields, which helps protect the team and reduces the strain on Cattle's SP.
Wonder can serve multiple roles depending on your needs. He can provide extra damage, but it's often better to use him for shields, healing, and general defensive utility. Ideally, he should have access to both healing and shielding to ensure the squishier members of the team stay alive.
Curse-Focused Team Build: Joker Curse Damage Team
Another powerful team build is the Joker Curse Damage Team, which requires more luck to assemble but can deal massive damage to enemies not immune to curse damage. The main damage dealer is Joker/Ren Amamiya, whose Will of Rebellion stacks allow him to take extra turns and increase his damage output.
Joker excels at taking down groups of enemies with Arsene's Chains, an attack that deals more damage when used on an Extra Action and even more damage against debuffed foes. To set Joker up for success, the 5-star Saboteur Rin/Yaoling Li is an excellent choice. She applies the Red Spider Lilly debuff with her Lion Dance of Oblivion, increasing enemy damage taken based on her speed stat. Her Underworld Ferry skill adds a defense debuff, making enemies more vulnerable to attacks. Additionally, her second and third skills are strengthened when she has the Meng Po Soup buff, which can also inflict Forget on enemies, preventing them from using their skills.
Moko/Tomoko Noge serves as a perfect strategist for this team. She can use Cheering You On to apply Cheer Song to Joker and Rin, enhancing their Attack and Ailment Accuracy. Spirit's Lullaby and her Highlight ability can increase the damage taken by a single target and potentially inflict sleep, allowing her to neutralize threats temporarily.
Puppet and Okyan both work well as Elucidators, with Puppet providing defensive utility and Okyan boosting damage output. Wonder should focus on support roles, using healing, buffing, and shielding Personas to keep the rest of the party healthy. Applying shields to the team members with the lowest defense and health, and providing healing as needed, is usually the best approach for Wonder in this setup.
